His construction technique for lighthouse lenses revolutionised the lighthouse business, reducing weight by a factor of 10 and having a light capture of 70% and concentrated beams that could be seen clearly for miles. This lens is part of the wonderful museum attached to the St.Augustine historic light station, Fresnel lenses come in seven strengths or orders depending on need. Still the 100's to often 1,000's of individual pieces of glass that make up lighthouse lenses create huge works of art when assembled - help I want one! Fabulous St.Augustine light station coverage.
