Comments: Here spanish moss entangles bald cypress trees in winter bronze, hiding stilt cottages along Banks Lake - South Georgia. Actually it's not Spanish and it's not a moss - but it does have one of the most interesting history's of any tropical plant. From the Peruvian Andes, Spanish Moss is in the pineapple or Bromeliad family of plants, an air plant or epiphitic. Spanish moss was harvested for years as a stuffing material in automobile seats, furniture, and mattresses. Moss pickers were hired and used long poles to pull the stringy masses off the trees. The plants were then dried and cured before being used. Huge tropical garden and flower stock. Tropical flower specialist - Florida, Bahamas, Caribbean. Award winning tropical flower ID book available - contact the office for copies.
