Red-footed Tortoise (Chelonoidis carbonaria / Syn: Geochelone carbonaria) Fraternal Twins Hatching from the Same Egg. The two baby turtles are both connected to the same egg yolk by their umbilical chords and develop within a single egg shell. When they emerge, both will be a bit smaller than a normal hatchling, but otherwise fine. The first to emerge is dragging its sibling out of the shell.
