OVERVIEW An avid outdoorsman and adventurer, Binegar's appreciation for the natural world has repeatedly taken him to remote and wild areas of the American West.

NATURAL HISTORY Extensive natural history file encompasses landscapes and seascapes of the American West, large and small mammals, birds, flowering and nonflowering plants, and abstracts during all weather conditions and seasons. Images range from telephoto to macro subjects, including mountains, desert systems, plains, rain forests and tundra.

SCENICS Specialty is the American West from towering mountains to vast prairies, from the deserts to the Arctic and the wildlife that populates them. Whether the grand scale landscape or the solitary, delicate and ephemeral beauty of a single flower in the American West, Marv finds inspiration in it all.

TRAVEL The rare, unusual, archaic and nostalgic aspects of travel in the American West. Binegar says his most interesting travel photographs are those scenes that few tourists would otherwise notice.

SPECIALTIES Emphasis on N.A. mammals and birds and large and small plant life. Landscapes, particularly rivers, streams and lakes. Most extensive coverage is of Alaska brown bears, caribou, Roosevelt elk, Columbia white-tailed deer, bald eagles, ducks, geese, swans and seabirds. Flowers of all kinds.

GEOGRAPHIC AREAS National parks, refuges, preserves, scenic areas, and wild mountains and valleys of the West, including Alaska and Hawaii. Most detailed coverage features the Pacific Northwest, including the Columbia River and Columbia Gorge, the Oregon and Washington coasts, John Day Fossil Beds NM, Crater Lake NP, Mount Rainier, Olympic NP and Oregon's Willamette Valley. Alaska: McNeil River State Game Sanctuary with its magnificent brown bears is a favorite location. Denali NP, Katmai NP, the Arctic NWR, Kachemak Bay, the Pribilof Islands, and Gates of the Arctic NP. Southwestern Deserts: Arches NP and Canyonlands NP. The Rockies: Yellowstone and Grand Teton NPs, Glacier NP, and Rocky Mountain NP. The Great Plains.

PHOTOGRAPHIC PLANS An ongoing project to photograph all of the national wildlife refuges in the state of Oregon for a possible book. The changes and extremes of the seasons in the West is a constant theme.
