Comments: Northern lights (aurora borealis) visible from Churchill River above a tourist aurora-watching buggy on the tundra outside Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. Northern lights occur when sunspot activity causes charged particles from the sun to stream around the earth and then interact with our atmosphere. Green is caused by interaction with oxygen.
