Caption: Two-headed Yellow-bellied Slider (Trachemys s. scripta / Formerly: Chrysemys s. scripta) Hatchling, Florida. The "egg tooth" used to slice through the egg shell on hatching is still visible on the snout of both heads. This hard, sharp bit of keratin falls off a few days after hatching. Subspecies range = se VA to n FL.
