Comments: Man dressed as 1800s town marshal eats a "hangtown fry," a hearty meal that dates back to the gold rush of the middle 1800s in California. There are two versions of the "hangtown fry" story. One is that gold miners who had just struck it rich wanted to celebrate with the most expensive meal of the time...a combination of eggs and oysters. The second story is that prisoners condemned to die by hanging ordered this as their last meal because it was time consuming to prepare back then, thus giving them a bit more time alive. The dish has many receipes but all include eggs, bacon and oysters. This dish is the last 'real' hangtown fry on a cafe menu in Placerville. Those are smoked oysters on the end of the man's fork. California, USA.
