Spring garden at Colonial Williamsburg. Colonial Williamsburg's 301-acre Historic Area includes 88 original 18th-century structures, many of which are open to the public. It is a town-size museum, exhibiting 18th-century Williamsburg as it was on the eve of the Revolution. At that time Williamsburg was the capital of the Colony of Virginia. Exhibition sites, costumed historic interpreters and demonstrations of colonial crafts and trade bring the 1770s back to life.
