Available Comp Size: 247 x 350 Caption: Cope's Gray Treefrog male calling
Scientific name: Hyla chrysoscelis Location: Crex Meadows Wildlife Area, Burnett County, Wisconsin Copyright: © Allen Blake Sheldon Photographer Code: A-1378 AGPix ID: AGPix_AlBlSh17_0040 Photo Alignment: 35mm (vertical) Comments: Cope's Gray Treefrogs (Hyla chrysoscelis) are virtually visibly indistinguishable from Gray Treefrogs (Hyla versicolor). They both range in color from gray to green. The best way to pick out a Cope's is by its call, which is faster and higher pitched than the Gray. In the middle of the night, this Cope's Gray treefrog was found as it called from the marsh. A call that said to me "I'm a Cope's. Get out here and photograph me."
