Comments: In SW Arizona, Round-tailed Ground Squirrels hibernate from September through January, then mate in early Spring. The 6 - 12 young make their first appearance from the burrow during the first week of May, and are then weened over the next five weeks. Round-tailed Ground Squirrels are a favored prey of hawks, coyotes, badgers and bobcats.
