Comments: Vergelegen Estate was established in 1700 by Willem Adrian van der Stel of the Dutch East India Company. The title in old Dutch means "remotely situated". It is still an active dairy and wine farm of world reknown, with the estate wines shipped & sold all over the world. The flowers are Chincherinchee of the Lily family, indigenous to the Cape region and a major earner of foreign currncy as an export crop. The building design is an outstanding example of the famous Cape Dutch style. Extensive Cape Province and South African coverage; multiple subjects.
