Found naturally in the wild in the SE USA they have become immensely popular as pets. This guy is part of the box turtle collection at the award winning Reed Bingham SP in south Georgia - where resident naturalist and rangers have a huge gopher tortoise program and a large collection of turtles, tortoise and snakes for education programs.
