More than 17 years of experience as a scientist working for a government agency, including fieldwork in various wilderness areas of Alaska and expeditions across the Arctic Ocean. Experience teaching college and university-level geology and oceanography and familiarity with the use of visual media in education.

COMMENTS Ten-plus years of freelance work in photojournalism for newspaper, magazine and nonprofits. Have photographed a wide variety of assignments, including media events (e.g., United Nations 50th Anniversary, Herb Caen Day in San Francisco), festivals, exhibits, parades, weddings, sporting events, local interest stories, photoessays and portraits.
