OVERVIEW Kevin Fitz Patrick's photography is a fusion of scientific, documentary and aesthetic imaging that provides a visual history of the study of biodiversity and its implications in today's world.
NATURAL HISTORY Photographic coverage of the southern and northern regions of the Appalachian range and from the New England Coast to the Adirondacks, including forests, flowering and nonflowering plants, animal life, rivers and streams, riparian zones, wetlands, coastal environments, seasons, natural patterns, environmental issues and field research.
ENVIRONMENTAL All aspects of watershed protection, including forest conservation, water quality, land use and population issues. Documentary coverage of ecological field research of forest and aquatic ecosystems. Volunteer involvement with environmental activities, especially student action.
SPECIALTIES Twenty-five years experience photographing and producing multi-image programs for conservation organizations, nature centers, state and federal agencies. Production of image and natural sound packages of specific ecosystems for museum and environmental education center exhibits. In addition, Fitz Patrick documents biodiversity inventories being conducted in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Acadia National Park, Nantucket Island and Adirondack Park in order to promote the study of biodiversity and to encourage the development of "citizen science."
