NATURAL HISTORY Ecosystems: Plants and animals of coastal marshes, Sierra alpine, Mojave and Great Basin deserts, California sagebrush, sand dunes, bogs, mangroves, coral reefs in the Pacific and Caribbean. Seabirds: Shorebirds, ducks and geese, seabirds, albatross (seven species), frigates (three species), boobies (three species) and noddies (three species) nesting. Land birds: Many species from various places around the world. Penguins: Kings, gentoo, yellow-eyed, chinstrap, adelei, rockhopper, macaroni, royal, Snares Island, jackass and magellanic. Botanical species: Extensive California wildflower coverage, cultivated flowers, shrubs, trees, cacti, tundra, aquatic plants and poisonous plants. Marine mammals: Dolphins (bottlenose both Pacific & Atlantic, spotted, Dall, Commerson's), whales (grays, humpbacks, blues, killers), pinnipeds (both northern & southern elephant seals, southern fur seals, sea lions, sea otters, walrus, manatees). Land mammals: Deer, elk (tule, Roosevelt & wapiti ), reindeer, coyotes, foxes, pika, chipmunks, ground squirrels, squirrels, weasel, Norwegian reindeer and polar bears, (plus some jaguars, cheetahs, lions and tigers).
